My Favorite Writing

One of favorite writings is from the book titled “Yahoo Hotjobs From Learning to Earning Success Strategies for New Grads” by Dan Finnigan and Marc Karasu (2006 Sterling Publishing, New York).  It has valuable information from job hunting to interview tips. I can say that this is like a bible for every graduating college students because it explains things like the types of skills in more detailed way. I was surprised that most of the contents are not found on other books, taught in classes or even available from their previous Hotjob’s website. 

I really like the advice from Donald Trump on page 17.  He said that it is important to articulate what you want and why you are doing it.  It also includes this question: “How can you sell yourself without sounding boastful?” Some job seekers are unaware that they may be doing this or if they do, they probably think that it is what employers want to hear.  The other question which might not come to our mind was “Can you persuade me in less than 30 seconds?”

I realized that knowing these questions will help me get more job offers in the future.  It is not a long message but it was direct and it gives us a clear idea.

All About Me

Many people here in United States have trouble pronouncing my last name except if they are a Filipino. I grew up in the Philippines and I migrated twelve years ago with my family. Aside from English, I also speak Tagalog and a dialect called Ilocano.

I spent most of my life in America working full time for financial institutions. I was trained in the management and sales side. I thought that it was my dream career to become one of the top people in banking. I realized back in 2008 that I was no longer enjoying this industry.  I went back to school to pursue my passion in liberal arts and I decided to finally major in Advertising.

Currently, I'm a senior and hopefully, I enrolled the right classes.  If that happens, I will graduate at the end of this semester with a minor in Communication Studies.

I am a Twitter addict but not a geek. I value education now unlike when I was younger. I also became interested in other things like community service, wellness, green living and politics. Last year, I left my job to finish my studies.  I hope that anyone who reads this blog will help them realize to pursue our dreams.
